Choose how each course renews
Per course, decide whether students retake the whole course, pass a shorter recertification quiz, or get re-issued by an admin. You can also set a separate WooCommerce product for paid renewal.
Quiz-based recertification and one-click signed renewal links for LearnDash Certificate Expiry.
LearnDash Certificate Renewal is an add-on for LearnDash Certificate Expiry. It lets students renew an expiring certificate themselves, by retaking the course, passing a short recertification quiz or paying for a renewal, using a signed link that arrives in their reminder emails.
Per course, decide whether students retake the whole course, pass a shorter recertification quiz, or get re-issued by an admin. You can also set a separate WooCommerce product for paid renewal.
The {renewal_link} in Certificate Expiry’s reminder emails becomes a signed, expiring link that takes the student straight to the right quiz, course or checkout.
Sell a renewal as its own product. As soon as the order is paid, the certification is renewed without anyone touching it.
Certificate Expiry tells a student their certificate is about to lapse. The obvious next question is “how do I renew?”, and without an answer in the email it turns into a support ticket. Someone on your team then works out what the student needs to do and sends them there by hand.
If WooCommerce isn’t active, you can still renew certificates by hand from the Certifications screen.
Certificate Expiry’s reminder emails include a {renewal_link} placeholder. With Renewal active, that link is signed and personal: it belongs to one student and one course, stays valid for 30 days, and sends the student to the right place for that course’s renewal mode.
We tried to break it. Changing the student or the course inside the link, using an expired link or pasting a malformed one all failed, and the visitor simply lands on a normal page instead of an error.
* Multisite: one license covers the whole network, and each subsite running the plugin counts
as one site against the license's site limit (1, 3, 5, or unlimited). The license is stored
network-wide and only a network (super) admin can activate or deactivate it.
* Adding a subsite, or activating the plugin on one, takes an activation automatically; deactivating
the plugin on a subsite or deleting the subsite frees it again. Updates are only offered while
every subsite running the plugin is activated.
* Uninstall now removes this add-on's license settings and its license re-check event.
It runs alongside LearnDash and never changes its files, so you can keep updating LearnDash as usual.

You already use Certificate Expiry and want students to renew on their own instead of emailing you.
You don't use LearnDash Certificate Expiry.
No. It builds on Certificate Expiry's certifications and settings. Without it, Renewal shows a notice and does nothing else.
Any quiz that belongs to the course. The picker only lists that course's quizzes, and it won't save a quiz from somewhere else.
30 days. Each reminder email carries a fresh link, so a student who misses one will get a working link in the next reminder.
Yes. On the course, choose a separate WooCommerce product for renewal. Leave it blank to reuse the original certificate product. This applies to the one-click renewal mode.
Yes. Renewal links are tied to a student's user account, and paid renewals are matched to the logged-in customer on the order.
Course and quiz renewals still work. Paid renewal isn't available, and you can renew certificates by hand from the Certifications screen.
If you don't have Certificate Expiry yet, yes. The Expiry + Renewal bundle costs less than buying the two add-ons separately, and one licence key covers both.
One licence key for 1, 3, 5 or unlimited sites, whichever you pick at checkout, valid for a year. Every licence has every feature, plus all updates and support for that year. If you don't renew, the plugin keeps working but stops receiving updates.
Yes. Email support@pluginsprout.com within 14 days of buying, from the address you bought with, and we refund the full amount.
