Checked 25 September 2026. Features and prices come from each vendor’s own page, linked below. “Not stated” means the page doesn’t say, not that the feature is missing. We make WC Order Search Pro, so weigh our row accordingly and check the others yourself.
Which one fits?
- Only SKUs are missing: a SKU-only add-on is the smallest change.
- You search by product name, type or category: the free WC Search Orders By Product plugin covers that.
- You already use SearchWP for your site search: its WooCommerce extension can index orders too, including notes and custom fields.
- Staff want a spreadsheet to edit orders in bulk: WP Sheet Editor is a different tool for a different job.
- You want SKUs, notes and custom fields in the normal Orders screen, with saved searches: that’s what we built WC Order Search Pro to do.

What does WooCommerce search on its own?
We read the search code in WooCommerce itself. On HPOS stores it covers the order ID, transaction ID, billing email, customer name and address fields, and the product names on the order. It doesn’t search SKUs, order notes or custom fields. Our guide on searching orders by SKU, note or custom field explains why, and what the code-based options are.
SearchWP
SearchWP is a search plugin for the whole site, and its documentation shows it can also index WooCommerce orders for admin search, with its WooCommerce Integration extension active. The fields it lists are broad: SKU, product name and attributes, order numbers, order notes, customer data, order date and any meta key.
The extension is included from the Pro plan, listed at $199 a year for three sites. It makes most sense if you also want better product search on the storefront, since that’s SearchWP’s main job. The documentation page doesn’t state HPOS compatibility, so check that with SearchWP if your store uses HPOS.
Single-purpose options
Stachethemes Orders SKU Search does one thing: it makes SKUs searchable on the Orders screen, full or partial, and supports both HPOS and legacy storage. On HPOS it adds a Product SKU option to the search dropdown. Its documentation doesn’t mention other fields.
WC Search Orders By Product is free on WordPress.org, lists 800+ active installations, and searches orders by product name, type and category. It added HPOS compatibility in version 3.1. SKUs aren’t mentioned on its page.
WP Sheet Editor
A different kind of tool. WP Sheet Editor shows orders as a spreadsheet inside WordPress, with filters for status, products, location, email, total and payment method, and it states compatibility with custom fields from other plugins. It suits bulk editing. It replaces the Orders screen workflow rather than improving its search.
WC Order Search Pro
Ours replaces the search on the normal Orders screen with an indexed one that covers SKUs, coupon codes, order notes (customer-facing and private) and any custom fields you tick, alongside the usual customer and address fields. A Matched in column shows which field matched. It adds stackable filters, saved searches shared with the team, bulk actions (note, tag, CSV export, packing slips) and search analytics, on HPOS and legacy storage.
What it doesn’t do: it doesn’t touch the storefront product search, and it’s for the admin Orders screen only. If you need both, SearchWP covers more ground.
How to choose
- List the searches staff actually run. Ask them, or look at what they type. If it’s only SKUs, buy the smallest tool.
- Check your storage. On HPOS, confirm HPOS support in writing before buying anything. Our guide to HPOS and order search explains why it matters.
- Test on real order volume. A search that’s instant on 200 orders can crawl on 200,000. Indexed search holds up; direct meta searches may not.
- Decide where search should live. The Orders screen, a spreadsheet, or a site-wide search tool are three different habits for your team.
